The Washington Farmhouse is a 6,000-square-foot historic barn reimagined into a refined country residence set within an expansive rural Connecticut estate. The renovation honors the barn’s natural character—its weathered beams and wide-plank floors—while introducing layers of comfort, luxury, and modern convenience.

The challenge was to preserve the authenticity and rustic charm of the historic barn while outfitting it with the modern amenities expected of a contemporary residence. The design needed to unify original architectural elements with new systems, cabinetry, furnishings, and technology—without disrupting the pastoral spirit of the estate.
