The Napa Estate is an elegant yet relaxed 13,000-square-foot retreat set along the crest of a 130-acre mountain ridge in the heart of Napa Valley. Designed as a “camp-chic” sanctuary, the residence unites layered modernity with tranquil simplicity, creating a powerful connection between the home’s richly detailed interiors and the expansive, rugged landscape below.
A dynamic procession unfolds from the soaring double-height great room to the retractable glass wall and out toward the dramatic infinity pool perched along the mountain’s edge.
The primary challenge was to craft a large-scale estate that felt both luxurious and intimately connected to its natural setting — balancing sophisticated design with the relaxed character of Napa Valley.
The residence needed to accommodate grand entertaining, family gatherings, wine-country living, and private retreat moments, all while ensuring uninterrupted views and a seamless indoor–outdoor experience across a vast and varied terrain.
The design emphasizes organic materials, sculptural furnishings, and wide-open vistas to achieve harmony between luxury and nature. Inside the main living volume, an open great room features a sinuous custom Nakashima dining table anchored by a shimmering chandelier. A retractable glass wall erases the boundary between interior and exterior, leading directly to a breathtaking infinity pool.
The kitchen showcases an oversized marble island and bespoke oak cabinetry enhanced by handmade metal-and-glass lighting, while a leather-wrapped breakfast banquette creates a warm, communal nook. A dedicated wine room houses an expansive collection essential to the Napa lifestyle.
In the private wing, the master suite centers on a carved Nakashima bed positioned toward panoramic mountain views, complemented by rare mid-century furnishings and a custom petrified-coal table by Jim Zivic. The master bath extends to an outdoor spa with dual open-air showers and a secluded garden offering uninterrupted vistas.
At a respectful distance, a two-bedroom guesthouse provides luxurious privacy for visitors, mirroring the rustic-modern sensibility of the main residence.
