Challenge

The goal was to design a modern high-rise residence that offered the calm and intimacy of a resort within the density of Manhattan.

The challenge lay in creating an environment that felt gracious, luminous, and warm, while integrating a full suite of amenities — from wellness and recreation to hospitality-inspired communal spaces — within a vertical structure. The design needed to embody timeless elegance and luxury without sacrificing comfort or livability.

Solution

The result is a tower that radiates refinement and serenity. The exterior’s glass, steel, and limestone composition reflects both modern strength and classic sophistication. Inside, materials like bleached walnut, travertine, and brushed bronze infuse warmth throughout the expansive residences and public spaces.

The double-height lobby, framed by a cascading chandelier and an organic sculpture by Ken Gangbar, connects via a sculptural staircase to a wood-clad library and children’s playroom. The 21st and 22nd floors are dedicated to social and wellness amenities: a sky lounge with gourmet kitchen, movement studio, 50-foot heated pool, cedar sauna, and a hydrotherapy spa reminiscent of a Turkish hammam.

Each residence features floor-to-ceiling windows, smoked oak floors, and Calacatta Ligano marble kitchens with Miele appliances. Bathrooms clad in statuary marble and bronze fixtures create spa-like sanctuaries. At the top, two 3,600-square-foot penthouses with wood-burning fireplaces and private terraces offer sweeping views of the Chrysler Building and East River.

Halcyon New York captures the essence of refined urban living, where architectural precision and luxurious comfort coexist in perfect balance.
