Nestled in Raleigh’s sought-after Hayes Barton neighborhood, this home underwent a dramatic transformation to become a sophisticated modern residence for a jet-setting professional couple and their young family.
The design merges Art Deco influences with traditional Southern and French styles, creating a stylish, layered environment filled with rich textures, curated furnishings, and a world-class contemporary art collection.
The original house lacked character and failed to reflect the clients’ vibrant lifestyle and aesthetic vision. The couple needed a home that balanced family comfort with sophisticated entertaining spaces, while also accommodating frequent travel and large extended family gatherings.
The challenge was to create a welcoming environment with architectural and interior updates that felt both modern and timeless.
To achieve this transformation, the design preserved only the loft’s original tin ceiling and overhead sprinklers, using them as a subtle nod to its industrial roots. From there, the space was layered with rich woods, shimmering metals, and plush fabrics to bring depth and sophistication. Asian-inspired elements were seamlessly integrated alongside custom-designed and vintage modern furnishings, creating a unique narrative that reflects the couple’s heritage. An evolving modern art collection and softly textured drapery elevate the atmosphere, while expansive windows bathe the home in natural light by day and glamorous metropolitan energy by night.
