A flagship boutique redefining luxury retail with a dramatic, light-filled design inspired by Coach’s heritage and modern innovation.
Located at the base of the iconic Fuller Building, this flagship boutique occupies New York’s most prestigious retail corner at 57th Street and Madison Avenue. The design merges a dramatic spatial experience with crisp, modern detailing, offering an elevated environment that reflects both the brand’s history and its forward-looking vision.
Coach needed to update their retail image to appeal to a broader audience while preserving their reputation as a classic American leather goods brand. In addition, the expansion of product categories—ranging from home goods to watches and accessories—required entirely new display standards and merchandising strategies.
The challenge was to create a cohesive, visually striking environment that showcased this evolving range while maintaining the brand’s heritage.
Drawing inspiration from Coach’s 1940 industrial roots, the design team removed a 20’ x 20’ section from each of the store’s three levels to create a dramatic triple-height atrium filled with natural light. A textured white glazed brick wall spans the full height, providing a stunning backdrop for product displays. Materials such as stainless steel, ribbed glass, concrete, and end-block wood flooring were combined with traditional American elements like milk-painted pine and mahogany, achieving a balance between modern sophistication and nostalgic craftsmanship. The result is a flagship experience that celebrates Coach’s past while embracing its future.
