Moving beyond clichés, the space celebrates a deep reverence for nature through rich organic materials while juxtaposing them with clean, modern architectural lines. The result is a gallery-like setting that embodies the brand’s spirit of discovery and innovation.
The client sought a retail space that conveyed their modern interpretation of traditional Chinese apparel without falling into stereotypical visual tropes such as red lacquer or ornate detailing.
The design needed to balance heritage and modernity, offering a fresh, subtle experience that would resonate with an upscale audience while also functioning seamlessly as a high-end retail environment.
The design team embraced the theme of harmony between tradition and progress. Organic materials, including variegated wood flooring, walnut plinths, and ebonized rift oak cabinetry, were layered against precise geometric elements like rectilinear hang bars and crisp architectural lines. A sculptural spiral staircase rises through a dramatic three-story atrium, while expansive glass dissolves the boundary between inside and out. Subtle nods to traditional motifs, such as bamboo, are reinterpreted through modern materials like vacuum-formed acrylic screens, creating a retail experience that invites exploration and discovery.
