A 2,500-square-foot luxury lounge inside the iconic Morgan’s Hotel, Reserve Bar reimagines Andrée Putman’s legacy with sculptural forms, reflective materials, and dramatic, mood-shifting light.
The Reserve Bar is a chic, sculpturally driven 2,500-square-foot lounge nestled within the famed Morgan’s Hotel. Conceived as a modern homage to Andrée Putman’s original design language, the space elevates the hotel’s identity with bold forms, reflective surfaces, and an atmosphere of quiet opulence.
From the moment guests arrive through the glowing, backlit mesh-lined corridor, they enter an environment that balances theatricality, comfort, and elevated luxury—culminating in a dramatic double-height lounge anchored by rich textures, sophisticated furnishings, and dynamic lighting.
The challenge was to introduce a new design chapter for the hotel without overshadowing its iconic Putman heritage. The space needed to feel both forward-thinking and timeless, while accommodating intimate gatherings and vibrant evening energy.
Additionally, transforming a once-mezzanine-heavy layout into a spacious, inviting volume required strategic architectural intervention, all while maintaining a cohesive visual language that transitions gracefully between day and night.
The design team enhanced the lounge’s volume by removing a large section of the mezzanine, resulting in a dramatic double-height space filled with light and visual movement. Guests arrive through a long corridor lined with backlit wire mesh glass—a crystalline, ephemeral material that establishes the lounge’s signature mood. Inside, a sculptural installation of faceted mirror-polished metal anchors the end wall, catching light and animating the space with shimmering reflections.
The main level adopts a residential sensibility, featuring rift-cut oak paneling, streamlined furnishings, plush banquettes, and a palette of cool blues and warm grays layered across an oversized rug. Sparkling glass wall panels, a smoky bronze banister, and twin sunburst chandeliers add glamour without sacrificing comfort. The mezzanine above deepens the palette into moody blues and purples, offering intimate alcoves for cocktails and light dining.
By night, Reserve Bar transforms into a luminous, prismatic setting. LED-lit mesh glass panels cast a continuous glow, flames dance across an antique bronze hearth, and the mirror-backed glass bar creates a play of shadow and sparkle. Carefully integrated lighting elevates every corner, balancing shimmer with softness.
The finished space strikes a perfect equilibrium between glamour and ease, honoring Putman’s legacy while boldly redefining the Morgan’s experience for a new era.
