Challenge

Designing a residence for a pair of globally recognized tastemakers presented a unique challenge: the home needed to reflect their refined, modern aesthetic while honoring the natural beauty and tranquility of the oceanfront site.

The clients required abundant entertaining spaces, private wellness zones, and a layout that allowed seamless flow between public and private areas — all without disrupting the serenity that defines their coastal lifestyle. Achieving a balance between spectacle and simplicity was at the heart of the design challenge.

Solution

The design responds with a two-level structure that celebrates openness, luxury, and connection to nature. On the ground floor, expansive entertaining areas open directly to the oversized pool, hot tub, and dense tropical greenery. Chain-suspended daybeds, a large dining patio, and an outdoor fireplace create a resort-like setting ideal for hosting. Wellness spaces — including a massage room, meditation area, and full gym — spill out toward the sand and sea.

Upstairs, the open plan is defined by hidden partitions and oversized sliding doors, allowing spaces to transform effortlessly from intimate to expansive. A palette of warm woods, travertine, smooth concrete, white cotton, linen, hemp, and suede establishes a calm, tactile environment. The kitchen breakfast area blends crisp minimalism with natural warmth through rattan-sided cabinetry, a thick teak table, and wicker lighting. Two bespoke Nakashimaya solid walnut doors glide on invisible tracks, concealing the service areas when desired.

The generous dining–living room, anchored by a large fireplace and centered around curated seating, frames sweeping ocean views. Handmade pottery, woven baskets, and striking coral pieces introduce sculptural, global accents that soften the clean, architectural lines. Hidden pivot panels within the fireplace wall allow the homeowners to open or close off private areas without interrupting the home’s visual serenity.

The master suite—a blend of Asian-inspired millwork, iconic Danish pieces, rattan, and straw—opens to a lavish bath featuring both an indoor glass-walled shower and a teak-clad outdoor shower open to the sky.

Ultimately, the Kors Residence is a tranquil, highly sophisticated coastal haven, perfectly suited for a couple who values impeccable design, absolute comfort, and effortless indoor–outdoor living.
